Denman Street improvements:
1. Need a new hood fan or open the door, the smell of hot oil mixed with the heat on too high makes for an uncomfortable eating/breathing experience.
2. Offer to toast the bun.
3. Insure that mustard and ketchup containers are clean ie: scrub the lids clean where the lid meets the bottle.
I had a chance to drive by this place today and as usual I had to stop in. The owner is a good guy and his food lives up to all the hype. I enjoy that all his family works there and will drive by 50 burger joints just to get to the 50's. Stop in! Eat and be merry!
So, I've always been meaning to drop by this place again and see if the best burger I've ever eaten in my life (I'm 63 now and am reaching way back in the memory banks - Burnaby Central High School days, 1974) could still be had ... alas ... ownership has changed since then (not surprising, really), however, the owner, Brian, delivered an L.A. King burger to me that I took home and enjoyed later in the day ... I took care to chill the burger 'til I was ready, then de-constructed it to gently re-heat the beef pattie ... even hours later, this burger was truly enjoyable ... Brian doesn't use the unique creamy coleslaw dressing that I remember from the old days (I'm convinced that was the essential element) but he sure knows how to craft a burger! Will return again when in the area.
